This past weekend Americans lost one of its heroes in Alexander Cockburn. Mr. Cockburn was a bastion of humanism and had written for The Nation, and many other progressive magazines as well as publishing CounterPunch, a newsletter of articles exposing many of the lies of modern journalism. He brought true news to Americans awash in propaganda masquerading as news. CounterPunch will continue to be published by Jeffrey St. Clair, but Alexander Cockburn will be greatly missed. He was in the class of America’s great modern intellectuals. A true hero.
